Founder, President & Executive Director
Christian Baker, known behind the decks as Levi Watts, is the founder and President of House Revival Project, a nonprofit organization dedicated to preserving, promoting, and advancing house music culture through education, community engagement, and live events. A military veteran, DJ, producer, and passionate student of house music, Christian created House Revival Project from the belief that house music has always been more than entertainment. It is a cultural movement rooted in unity, creativity, and inclusion.
Based in Virginia's Hampton Roads region, Christian has been developing his craft as a DJ and producer while building relationships within the local electronic music community. Performing under the name Levi Watts, his sound blends deep and soulful underground house music with influences from the pioneers who shaped the genre. Rather than chasing trends, he is committed to honoring house music's rich history while helping cultivate its future.
House Revival Project was founded to address a challenge facing many local music communities: creating sustainable opportunities for artists while educating audiences about the cultural significance of house music. Under Christian's leadership, the organization produces events that pair exceptional musical experiences with educational programming highlighting the history, evolution, and social impact of the genre. This approach allows House Revival Project to serve as both a cultural organization and a community resource.
As President and Executive Director, Christian oversees the organization's strategic direction, partnerships, fundraising initiatives, event development, and long term growth. His vision extends beyond hosting successful events. He aims to establish House Revival Project as a lasting institution that supports DJs, producers, and creatives while introducing new audiences to the music's origins and values.
Christian is passionate about preserving the legacy of house music's Black, Latino, and LGBTQ+ pioneers whose innovation transformed dance music around the world. Through educational exhibits, workshops, artist collaborations, and community programming, he strives to ensure these stories remain accessible and celebrated for future generations.
His background as a veteran has shaped his leadership style, emphasizing service, accountability, thoughtful planning, and teamwork. Those principles guide both the nonprofit's governance and its commitment to responsible stewardship of donations, sponsorships, and community partnerships.
Looking ahead, Christian envisions House Revival Project expanding its educational initiatives, securing grant funding, developing youth and community outreach programs, and creating larger cultural events that strengthen Virginia's house music scene while contributing to the broader preservation of house music history.
Whether performing as Levi Watts or leading House Revival Project behind the scenes, Christian's mission remains the same: to build community through music, preserve the culture that inspired him, and leave the house music scene stronger than he found it.
